The Religious Education Directory

To Know You More Clearly.

Pupils from Nursery to Year 4 are learning from the New Religious Education Directory. Starting from scripture, the pupils work on the same themes at an age and stage-appropriate level. Topics are longer, lasting for half a term each rather than four weeks.

Pupils in Years 5 & 6 will transfer to the new curriculum later in the year and are continuing to follow the Come and See Programme of Study in the meantime. Come and See allows children to explore the teachings of the Catholic Church through the use of age-appropriate resources and activities.

At the heart of the programme is the mystery of God’s self-revelation of love through Jesus Christ. Come and See gives pupils the opportunity to explore the mystery of faith through Scripture and Tradition.

We are currently in a period of transition, implementing and embedding the new Religious Education Directory – ‘To Know You More Clearly’.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

Religious Education (RE) is a core part of our Catholic ethos and is central to the curriculum. It provides students with opportunities to reflect on their beliefs, values and the teachings of the Catholic church. However, we recognise the statutory right of parents to withdraw their child from RE, should they wish to do so. Parents considering this option are encouraged to discuss it with the headteacher to understand the full implications of withdrawal.
