Home Learning Year 2

Dear Parents,

Here is an overview of tasks we would like the children to be completing at home this week. We are committed to ensuring that your child is still learning as much as possible and endeavour to do our absolute best to keep this happening.  Enjoy learning together.

  • Hello Year 2,

Here are your learning tasks for week 9.

English – This week we are going to be completing activities based on the traditional tale the Elves and the Shoemaker. I would like you to complete pages 7-11. You will be answering questions about the story, matching words to a definition and identifying verbs, adjectives and nouns. Please download the booklet that is attached below.

Maths – In maths, we are focusing on multiplication. Our weekly objectives include writing multiplication sentences using the symbol, using arrays and using our knowledge of the 2 and 5 times tables. Attached on the document below are the video links for the daily lessons and worksheets to accompany each lesson.

History – This week, you will be revising your knowledge of Rosa Parks and her achievements. We already know lots about Rosa so the key question I would like you to be able to answer this week is how did the actions of Rosa Parks change history? You can watch videos and sequence the events of Rosa’s life here https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdw26v4  I have also attached a reading comprehension for you to complete and a writing task where I would like you to write about the life of Rosa Parks and her role in the Civil Rights Movement in the USA.

PSHE – This week is Mental Health Awareness week and this year’s theme is kindness. If you follow the link below it will take you to some information about virtual kindness cups. You can make these cups yourself and  award them virtually to people who have shown you or your family kindness during the lockdown. The definition of kindness is “doing something towards yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference”.

Please send me photos or videos of you awarding your kindness cups so that we can share them on our school Twitter page. I’ve also added a few kindness activities for you to download and complete.

    Have a lovely week,

    Miss Harris
